Argentine centre back FabrizioColoccini had a return of one goal in 39 games while playing for his country over an 11-year period. The ex-AC Milan, San Lorenzo and Newcastle United defender was in the Argentina senior national team from 2003 to 2011.

FabrizioColoccini was part of the Argentina team that won the 2001 FIFA u-20 World Cup tournament before he made his senior debut against Libya in April 2003. The defender featured for the senior team for the first time as Argentina beat Libya 3-1 in an international friendly.

Veteran defender FabrizioColoccini was part of the Argentina team that won the football event at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. He was also in the Argentina squad that got to the 2004 Copa America final before they were beaten on penalties by arch rivals Brazil. The Brazilians won 4-2 during penalty shootout after extra time ended in a 2-2 draw.

FabrizioColoccini scored his only goal for the senior team during the 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Peru as Argentina recorded a 3-1 away win during the game played on September 4, 2004. At the 2005 FIFA Confederations Cup, Coloccini was in the Argentina team that finished second behind Brazil after a 4-1 defeat in the final.

Coloccini featured for Argentina two times at the 2006 FIFA World Cup tournament in Germany. He was a substitute during the group stage clash with the Netherlands before making his second appearance as a starter as hosts Germany and Argentina played out a 1-1 draw at the end of 120 minutes. The Germans then sealed a place in the final four of the tournament thanks to their 5-3 penalty shootout win.

FabrizioColoccini was not called to squad for the 2010 FIFA World Cup tournament on South African soil as Argentina bowed out to the Germans at the quarterfinal stage once again.
