FabricioColoccini signed a five-year deal when he joined the Magpies from Deportivo La Coruna and he would later become one of the most consistent performers in the Newcastle United squad. He formed a centre back partnership with Frenchman Sebastien Bassong in his first season as a Newcastle United player.

Coloccini was heavily criticised by fans for his performance in the 5-1 defeat to Liverpool in his first season with the Magpies and he was backed by manager Joe Kinnear who called him ‘Mr. Reliable’. FabricioColoccini played every single Premier League minute until he was substituted in the 93rd minute of the derby with Sunderland on February 1. Coloccini was in the Newcastle United team that confirmed relegation from the top flight with a 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa.

FabricioColoccini stayed at Newcastle United despite their relegation from the Premier League. He formed potent centre back partnership with players like Fitz Hall, Mike Williamson, Tamas Kadar and Steven Taylor as the Magpies finished the 2009/10 Championship season with the meanest defence. He helped the Magpies back to the Premier League after a solitary season in the Championship and was also named in the Team of the Year.

Argentine defender Coloccini spent eight years at Newcastle United before making the decision to return home. The centre back signed for San Lorenzo in 2016.
